About Agata Kozlowska

Agata Kozlowska knows a lot about what is it like to have money…she also knows what is like to be poor. Agata knows a lot about understanding…she also knows what is like to not be understood.

Agata knows what is it like to grow up in a native country…she also knows what is it like to be an immigrant.

Agata Kozlowska grew up in Poland and immigrated with her closest family to Canada at the tender age of 16. At the time Polish economy was on shaky ground after the collapse of communism. But growing up life was not bad – Agata’s parents owned and operated a manufacturer and distributer of jewellery. While a lot of families struggled to make ends meet, Agata’s family was able to enjoy all the benefits that life in upper middle class has to offer.

However the immigration, her parents’ divorce, and family financial troubles presented Agata with life she never knew. Over the next two years things went from bad to worse. The university she attended declined the school loan and Agata found herself out of school, with no degree and no job, and no perspective for a better life. Life got really hard on all the levels.

As with many immigrants, hard work is the only way out and that was the case of Agata. Fast forward to now and you will find Agata with a degree from McMaster University, numerous professional designations, and other general interest courses from local university and college. She also has over a decade of working experience since she had to start working full time at an early age in order to put herself through school. She is enjoying life in Toronto with her husband and daughter. She is now on a mission to grow her business while teaching others the value of money, hard work, persistence and consistency – oh, and the power of compounding. While she really is a happy and positive person at heart, she did endure her share of heartaches helping the closest members of her family overcome critical illnesses and losing her beloved uncle to a tragic death. The question begs to be asked: was her family protected? The answer is no: most immigrants don’t think of the ‘what ifs’ and insurance but rather are trying to make the ends meet. Agata’s goal is to educate individuals to plan ahead and although it sounds cliché, ‘Expect the unexpected’.
